Our Mission

  • Grateful Rescue INC dba Grateful Rescue and Sanctuary is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that takes in homeless animals and provides rehabilitation, adoption and foster programs to place animals we receive.

  • We develop and present advocacy and educational programs that are presented to schools, businesses, government organizations and the general public. Our community outreach program includes free animal therapy services for people in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and hospice.

  • We offer free boarding and daycare for the pets of people meeting specific situations. We advocate the humane treatment of all animals and actively work with local and state governments to pass legislation that supports animal rights.

  • When our construction is complete, we will offer several expanded programs and retail facilities.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to provide stress-free living accommodations to homeless animals until adopted, or if unable to be adopted, they may live a comfortable life at our sanctuary. To connect people with animals, whether it be through adoption, education, or as a part of our therapy programs.

We Advocate:

  • The humane treatment of all animals.

  • Legislation to regulate breeding and end puppy mills.

  • We advocate no-kill shelters.

  • Transparency of all animal shelters and rescues.

The Plan

  • To provide a place where each homeless domestic pet thrives, and people will come to adopt or foster.

  • Create a network of rescues we can support to stop the killing of homeless animals due to limited space.

Transparency

“Transparency” relates to data collection from every animal shelter in every state for performance comparisons.

We can learn important information when key performance criteria is shared with our partners, employees, our customers, and our donors. In order to start the process, several groups have begun petitioning their states to enact laws that require reporting.

Unfortunately, to date, less than twenty-percent of states have taken action and the data collected by state-to-state varies, leading pundits to challenge the process as nothing more than a marketing ploy. Click to learn more…

Discrimination

We advocate legislation to end breed discrimination. Please join us in our fight by volunteering to help us pass legislation.

Trap-Neuter-Return

Trap-Neuter-Return is the most humane and effective approach for stray and feral cats. It stops the breeding cycle and therefore improves their lives while preventing reproduction and overpopulation. Since feral cats are not adoptable, they are commonly euthanized in shelters. Read more…
